New Photographs Coming Soon

Let me just say how nice it has been to spend countless hours staring at my computer screen over the last few months. Seriously, I have racked up an enormous stockpile of photos just begging to be edited, and the purge is in full swing.

In May I went to Oregon for my only photography trip this year and although I put a good dent into it, it remains unfinished. A wedding put the editing on hold and sent my travel cravings to an all time high. The honeymoon gave me my fix, though, as I flew halfway around the world with my beautiful bride to the Maldives. Those trips piled onto a list of prior vacations in need of a thorough editing, including a trip to Ireland that's approaching two years old. Chalk that up to a major life decision (moving across the country) and a crushing creative drought. 

Well, life isn't going to slow down, but there has been a break in the action and I've been able to catch up. The good news for me is I finally have a computer that's not bogged down by hoards of files. The good news for you is there is about to be a wave of new photographs on the website!

Starting February 1st, I will release either a new image or revisit an existing photograph on the website. Each post will include a brief summary about the photograph as well as its addition to the website. Stay tuned over the month of February as the website will more than double its catalog.

So if you missed the top ten photos of 2017 check back a few posts to see how many photos made this list. I thought that one was tough but there were a lot more candidates for this list. I had to go through my entire catalogue of photos and narrow it down to ten. I did it and here they are, my top ten favorite images of all time! 10. Oneonta Gorge This is a blog post I would highly recommend reading . Oneonta Gorge is in Oregon tucked in the Columbia River Gorge. The hike put me on the brink of hypothermia and took a nice gash out of my shin but images like this, made it worth it. This image, that starts out the list, was early in the hike, before I went neck deep in fresh spring runoff or cut up my leg carrying Sarah through it. This looks like a good filming location for a Jurassic Park movie with the moss covered walls and dark haunting slot cut by the water. I need to move on, I'm starting to shiver. 9. 10 New Molding Designs

Last year I expanded my ordering options with a line of hand crafted wood frames. After months of planning and designing I created two molding styles and framed one of my pieces using each. Those frames appeared in every 2018 festival I attended. People enjoyed the frames but the response was even better when they found out they were handmade. One of my goals for 2019 is to come up with at least two more options to add to the line. I’ve had some designs bouncing around in my head but really wanted to push my creativity so for the final list of 10 I forced myself to come up with 10 new molding designs. While the idea was to design 10 new moldings, the details of each design are loose. You'll notice I left out dimensions and while I tried to exhibit the general colors I had in mind, I didn't specify the types of wood that would be used. Behind the Title - "Into the Mystic"

"Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison Peaceful is the best word to describe these mornings. The sun won't rise for another hour but its light has begun to illuminate the sleeping waters of Lake Abamasagi. The soft gray-blue sky reflects a few shades darker off the still, metallic lake. A windless dawn means silence in the trees. All that stirs on this brisk new day is a distant loon song echoing through the channel. The first run of a motor breaks the glass-like reflection much like a footprint disturbs the freshly settled sand of a rising tide. Once the motor is killed, the call of the loon is paired with metronomic lapping against the cold aluminum hull. Tucked in a pine-lined bay, I cast my line to the edge of the pencil reeds to see if the world below the surface is awake yet. The ripples from the lure make the thin stalks in the water bounce and their long reflections bend. The eerie silence is quick to deafen the splash and the only disruption during my r
